Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterized by excessive sweating, far beyond what is necessary to regulate body temperature. This excessive sweating can be particularly bothersome in the armpits and hands, affecting daily life and self-confidence.

Fortunately, there are effective solutions for treating hyperhidrosis. Through neurotoxin injections with therapeutic medical botox, we can significantly reduce sweat production in these targeted areas. This non-invasive treatment helps regulate perspiration by temporarily blocking sweat glands, providing lasting relief.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR VISIT

1

Sweating Assessment

This step will allow your professional to assess the area to be treated by applying a solution that allows the activity of the sweat glands to be observed, in order to determine the quantity of neuromodulators necessary to guarantee effective control of perspiration.

2

The treatment

Your professional will begin by marking the injection points on the affected area, then disinfecting it. They will then inject the targeted points. The treatment lasts between 5 and 15 minutes and is generally painless, with only a slight pinch.

3

Preparing for the future

Your professional will give you personalized recommendations based on your skin's needs as well as the treatments planned for the future.

Duration of treatment

30 to 45 minutes in clinic

Recommended number of treatments

Do 1 treatment every 6 to 12 months depending on the return of sweating.

Results

You will notice a decrease in sweating within 3 to 14 days of your treatment. This control generally lasts for 8 months.

Is Botox effective for all types of hyperhidrosis?

Botox is particularly effective for primary hyperhidrosis, which is excessive sweating without an underlying medical cause. It is commonly used to treat axillary (armpit), palmar (hand), plantar (feet), and facial (including facial and scalp) hyperhidrosis. It is less effective for secondary hyperhidrosis, which is related to a medical condition.

How many Botox sessions are needed to treat hyperhidrosis?

A single injection session is usually sufficient to treat hyperhidrosis in a given area. However, the number of injections required may vary depending on the severity of the hyperhidrosis and the size of the area being treated. Injections should be repeated every 3 to 6 months to maintain the effect.

Is the treatment painful?

Botox injections are generally well tolerated. The procedure is quick, and many people feel only a slight stinging or pricking sensation during the injections. If pain is a concern, a local anesthetic can be applied to the treated area to reduce discomfort.

Is hyperhidrosis treatment covered by insurance?

Hyperhidrosis treatment may be covered by insurance when the diagnosis has been made by your general practitioner or specialist, and alternative treatments have not been effective. In this case, your doctor may recommend neuromodulator treatment (therapeutic Botox specifically for hyperhidrosis).

Once the diagnosis has been made, it is recommended that you contact your insurance company to obtain the documents necessary to submit your claim.
